    WILDERNESS FIRST AID COURSE

This 2-day course is being sponsored by the San Mateo Coastside Medical Reserve Corps with the support of Cal-Fire and the Coastside Fire Protection District. It is open to the entire community. It has been offered in other parts of the Bay Area but this is the first time it has been brought to the Coastside. The course is LIMITED TO 24 PARTICIPANTS and the deadline to sign-up will be August 31 (2 weeks).

    Some info:

    • DATES: SEPTEMBER 29 & 30 (Saturday & Sunday)

    • The course is 16 hours and goes from 8-5 each day.

    • It will be held at the HMB Fire Station #40 on Main Street.

    • The San Mateo Coastside MRC will provide coffee, water, soft drinks, and sandwiches for lunch. You may also bring snacks or your own lunch.

    • The course is taught by Bobbie Foster (or one of her staff) from Foster Calm out of Nevada City, California. You can check their website at http://www.FosterCalm.com for more specific information. Previous participants (including both of our prior HMB police chiefs) found it to be an excellent course.

    • The course requires a minimum of 14 people (max of 24).

    • The final deadline to register will be Friday, August 31.

    • CME or CEU credits will not be offered.

    • The cost is $100 per person which is a group rate. That is much cheaper than similar courses. Checks should be made out to “San Mateo Coastside MRC” and dropped off or sent to Michelle Ortiz at the HMB Fire Station #40.

    • To sign-up for the course and submit the course fee, contact Michelle Ortiz at the HMB Fire Station.

    • Prior to the class, Foster Calm will send course materials to your home.

    • There will not be any refunds unless we have people on the waiting list who want to take the course. Otherwise, if you have to cancel, you have to find someone to take your place.

Special thanks to Carol Masterson, RN for organizing the course and to Fire Chief Paul Cole and his staff for hosting this event !!
