    October 26th Communications Exercise

Event Sign-ups are available for the October 26th Communications Exercise.

This exercise is open to all amateur radio operators who have a current Santa Clara County DSW registration.  County DSW registration will be offered at the event for those who need it.  You don’t have to be a MAC to take part.

There will be activities for everyone at this event.  New Hams and those with years of experience will find some fun and interesting activities to challenge and educate you.

New hams can get help programming their HTs or learn about Packet at a Get-On-The-Air (GOTA) Packet Station.  You can also learn about and practice Radio Direction Finding, HF Communications and get experience sending message traffic in the Field Operations activity.  There are also opportunities to operate as a shadow for an event official.

More experienced Hams can operate as Net Control, operate a packet station or set up their own packet equipment in a Field Environment.  Those who are MACs or MIT can sign-up for evaluations if desired.

All activities have been designed to provide fun and education while at the same time developing experience with operating according to standard procedures required for emergency operations.

There will also be some interesting optional competitions you can take part in as well.

Sign-ups and additional information can be found on the county activities page.
