We have a couple of possible projects before field day rolls around.

    1) The Cushcraft vertical needs some TLC
    2) The club could use some basic 80/60/40M antennas.

    1) The Cushcraft vertical could use a basic refurbish before field day. The connections between the various sections need to be cleaned, and could use some noalox. The match box needs an inspection, and the antenna should be set up and tuned as needed.

    2) As we were setting up for winter field day, we had VHU/UHF on the air in less than 15 minutes, but it was pretty clear we don’t have any HF antennas ‘ready to go’ for the 80M, 60M, or 40M bands, and these are the ones we will potentially need in an emergency. This would make a good antenna project. I would recommend an 80/60/40 coupled resonator dipole, but there are other options.

I’ll miss the February club meeting, but there would make good discussion topics at the meeting.
