The American Red Cross will hold a Shelter Operations class Thursday, June 18, from 1830h to 2100h at the CEOC on Kelly Ave. in Half Moon Bay.

The purpose of this free class is to prepare you with the essential information needed to open and operate a community shelter. Participate as an individual or bring your entire group and learn as a team and be ready to help your community when a major disaster occurs.

Community members should attend to learn how they can help their community in providing shelter to people left without a home during a disaster. Those who have had previous shelter training should consider taking this workshop as a refresher. CEC members who complete this class will a new qualification on the back of their CEC card, if they don’t already have it. Even if you do not plan to open operate a shelter the information in this class can be invaluable if you plan to support a shelter in your capacity as a radio operator.
