On the morning of November 5th, there will be a wild land fire exercise held in the Coastside Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) at 537 Kelly Ave. in Half Moon Bay. As part of the exercise, The County will open an Evacuation Center next door to the CEOC, in the Ted Adcock Community Center, 535 Kelly Ave. It will be staffed with San Mateo County Human Services Agency personnel, Red Cross, City of Half Moon Bay and ham radio operators.

The County is in need of volunteers to serve as “victims” at the evacuation center, and they also need people to help staff the center, if you have attended one of the Red Cross Shelter or Evacuation Center classes. Practicing the skills we learned in training is critical if we hope to perform well during a real emergency, so we are encouraged to spend the morning with them. Those who RSVP will receive additional information on how to proceed.

Please RSVP with Nicholas Gottuso <> if you will be able to help, and thank you in advance!

    Jack, KK6MLA

I’ll be there. When one registers instructions and overview are sent, best to do that sooner than later.

Is there a need for Ham operators?
