More Net Operators needed for Garlic Festival Communications Operations

The Garlic Festival Communications Group is still looking for Amateur Radio operators that would be interested in assisting the Communications Committee for the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Each year r 100,000 visitors descend on Gilroy to sample all things Garlic. This year’s Festival will be held in Gilroy’s Christmas Hill Park on Friday, July 25th thru Sunday, July 27th. The Communications Committee plays a major role in keeping the festival flowing smoothly. The Team provides Net Control to over 300 commercial radios many of which are in the hands of first time radio users. It’s the professionalism of the Amateur Radio community that keeps everything working when the temperature starts to raise (and we’re not talking about the Sun’s warming of the Festival grounds).

Your participation comes with perks. You will receive a ticket for admission to the festival as well as a free meal and refreshments. You will also be stationed in one of the few air conditioned facilities at the Festival.

If you are interested in being a net control, or even just helping with communications support (gives you a chance to see what goes into net control as well), please contact Colin Tanner at

We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for this! I may be able to help on Sunday!
